Sofia Colvin lives and works in New York City. She created this series in a landscape vast and peculiar.

An image-maker is one who impresses authority over an object. Even if a photograph gives voice to an otherwise unnoticed sight, photography is still no doubt a process that manhandles all in its hold. What makes my endeavor unique is that I wish to infuse that eye with conscious, to revere the subject after I have stolen it away. The structures I photograph are not expectedly beautiful. But what they lack is precisely why I photograph them; they deserve, in their absence, a token to memorialize the search down streets and avenues for that nondescript yet somehow insatiable tug for an elusive kernel of beauty.
